Monarch populations have shrunken considerably over the past
20 years. This beautiful butterfly needs
more pollinator habitat to increase its survival on its migration of over 2,500
miles from Canada to Mexico. Pinelands
Nursery’s Monarch Butterfly Mix is made up of all of the forbs that monarchs
love. Milkweed is a very important host
plant for the monarch butterfly. Did you know that Asclepias syriaca (common
milkweed), is one of the only plants on which the monarch lays its eggs and
their larvae will feed and develop there all the way into a chrysalis? Although
milkweeds are essential for monarch caterpillars and larvae, the adults love to
forage on the nectar of a variety of other plants too! This mix is loaded with
the perfect resources for adult monarchs to build up fat reserves for their
journey and help them to sustain themselves through the winter.
15 lbs. per acre. $101 per lb. *Mix design and pricing are subject to change without
notice depending on the availability of current and future products. Changes to
the mix will not affect its function.*
