Description
Pachysandra procumbens, commonly known as Allegheny Spurge, is a shade-tolerant evergreen groundcover native to the southeastern United States. It has leathery, mottled green leaves and produces fragrant, spiky clusters of white flowers in early spring.
This plant prefers moist, well-drained soils in partial to full shade. Unlike its invasive relative, Japanese Pachysandra, Allegheny Spurge is non-aggressive and a beneficial choice for woodland gardens or shaded borders. Its low-maintenance nature and attractive foliage make it an excellent alternative for challenging shady areas.
