Our Policies

Who We Sell To

Pinelands Nursery & Supply is a wholesale nursery, and we sell to the trade: landscape and horticulture businesses, schools and universities, and government agencies. You'll need a trade account to see pricing and availability and to place orders. We review new account requests within two hours during business hours, and we may ask for a little information to verify your business.

If you're a homeowner, you can still buy our plants through our retail partner, Pinelands Direct Native Plants.

Pricing

Once you're logged in, you'll see the pricing for your account. Plants are priced by the flat or pot and seed by the pound. Prices and availability can change until your order is confirmed.

Order Minimums

Our plants are grown in trays and containers, so we sell them in these minimum quantities per species:

  • Plugs and tubelings: one full flat (50-cell plugs, or 32- or 72-cell tubelings)
  • #1 and #2 containers: 10 plants per species
  • #5 and #7 containers: 3 plants per species
  • Seed: whole pounds, with a 5 lb minimum on custom mixes

Every seed order is mixed and packaged to order, so please allow at least 72 hours.

Requesting a Quote

Add what you need to your cart and go to checkout. Click Download a quote with these totals for an instant PDF quote with your account pricing and delivery cost. Quoted prices are valid for 30 days. For freight delivery, tick I need a quote before ordering and our shipping team will email you a quote with freight pricing as soon as it’s ready.

After You Order

We'll email you a confirmation as soon as your order comes in, then follow up to confirm your ship or pickup date. Because we're growing living plants, all orders are subject to crop failures, weather, and other conditions beyond our control.

Payment

Payment is due when your order ships or is picked up. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express, as well as checks for invoiced orders.

Customers with established credit may qualify for Net 30 terms from the invoice date. First orders are always paid at shipment or pickup. To apply for a credit account, email ar@pinelandsnursery.com; applications usually take about four weeks. We may close a credit account at any time.

Large orders reserved well in advance, over $5,000 and more than 60 days out, may require a 25% non-refundable deposit that is applied to the last invoice of your order.

Past-due balances are charged 1.5% per month (18% annually), and the account returns to payment at shipment or pickup until it's current. If we have to send an account to collections, the customer is responsible for collection agency fees, attorney's fees, and court costs. Returned checks carry a $50 fee.

Plant ID Tags

All containerized material is labeled, and each flat comes with one ID tag. Need more tags for flats? Extra tags are $0.25 each, up to one tag per plant ordered.

Changes, Holds, and Cancellations

When you place an order, we set those plants aside for you. Last-minute changes cost us labor and space, so the following fees apply:

If your order is…

Fee

Changed or canceled with less than 2 business days' notice, or after we've pulled or loaded it

25% of the affected items

Held more than 30 days past the original ship date

A 25% holding deposit, applied to your order. Otherwise the order may be canceled unless we've agreed on other arrangements.

We take orders for the current season only: spring ordering opens January 1 and fall ordering opens July 1. Orders that aren't picked up or delivered within their season will be canceled.

Custom seed mixes and custom-grown orders can't be canceled once we've started mixing or growing them.

Plantra orders can't be canceled once we've placed them with Plantra.

Sales Tax

We collect sales tax in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts. Tax is based on where you receive your plants: pickups at our Columbus nursery are taxed in New Jersey, and shipped or delivered orders are taxed based on the ship-to address. Our tax is calculated by Avalara, a third-party tax compliance service.

If you receive your plants in a state where we don't collect sales tax, your state may expect you to pay use tax on the purchase.

Tax-Exempt Purchases

We accept resale, agricultural and farm use, nonprofit and exempt organization, and project-specific (job) exemptions. Submit your certificate with your new customer application. Certificates must be for the state where you're claiming the exemption (i.e. New Jersey for pickups or the receiving state for shipped and delivered orders). Once it's accepted, eligible orders will check out tax-free automatically.

Job exemptions apply only to a specific project, not to every order shipped to that location, so please submit the project's tax-exempt paperwork with every order for that job.

Please have your certificate on file before you order. Once tax has been invoiced, it's owed to the state and can't be refunded. If you were charged tax on a purchase that should have been exempt, you can ask the tax agency in the state where you received your plants for a refund. Each state has its own claim form and filing deadline.
