Description

Rudbeckia laciniata, commonly called Green-headed Coneflower or Cutleaf Coneflower, is a tall, clump-forming perennial native to wetlands, meadows, and riparian zones across North America. Its flowers, featuring bright yellow drooping petals and a greenish-yellow cone, bloom from midsummer to early fall. Reaching heights of up to 8 feet, it adds vertical interest to landscapes. The plant is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and birds, which feed on its nectar and seeds.

Green-headed Coneflower prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in moist, fertile soils, making it ideal for rain gardens, wet meadows, or streamside plantings. It spreads through rhizomes and can form large colonies, making it effective for erosion control. Its tall, elegant blooms are also popular in pollinator gardens and naturalized areas.
