Description

Spiraea latifolia, or broadleaf meadowsweet, is a deciduous shrub native to wetlands and meadows in northeastern North America. It grows 2 to 4 feet tall, forming upright, arching stems covered in clusters of small, pink to white flowers that bloom in mid to late summer. These flowers are highly attractive to pollinators, including bees and butterflies.

Broadleaf meadowsweet prefers moist, acidic soils and full sun to partial shade. Its foliage is dark green, turning yellow in the fall. This shrub is often used in wetland restoration and native gardens for its ornamental value and ability to support pollinators. It is an excellent choice for rain gardens and naturalized areas.
