Agrostis alba (Redtop) 2" Plug 50 ct.
Description
Agrostis alba, commonly known as Redtop, is a perennial grass native to Europe and Asia but widely naturalized in North America. It is recognized for its delicate, airy seed heads that turn reddish-brown as they mature, giving the plant its name. Redtop is commonly used in erosion control and as a cover crop due to its ability to establish quickly and thrive in a range of soil types, including poor or sandy soils.
This grass is often found in meadows, pastures, and along roadsides, and it tolerates both wet and dry conditions. While its primary use is functional, it also has ornamental value when planted in naturalized gardens or prairie settings. Redtop provides excellent forage for livestock and is an important species for stabilizing soil in wetland restoration projects.
