The wet-site counterpart to our standard pollinator mix, this blend swaps upland species for a sedge- and rush-anchored palette built to handle saturated soils while still delivering strong nectar and pollen value.
Mix Overview
Anchored by fox sedge, Virginia wild-rye, and deertongue grass for structure, this mix layers in genuinely wetland-adapted pollinator plants - swamp milkweed, common boneset, coastal plain and hollow Joe-Pye weed, swamp sunflower, and New England aster among them - to create a diverse, blooming wet meadow rather than a simple wetland grass planting. Soft rush and woolgrass round out the mix with rapid establishment and erosion resistance in consistently damp soil.
Application
- Pollinator habitat plantings on wet or seasonally saturated sites
- Wet meadow and sedge meadow restoration
- Stormwater basin and detention area plantings with fluctuating water levels
- Naturalized buffers around ponds, streams, and low-lying drainage areas
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Full Sun to Part Shade
- Site Conditions: Wet to seasonally saturated soils; tolerates standing water
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 15 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Native wet-meadow wildflower, sedge, and grass blend
Planting Guidance
Best seeded into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall on sites that stay consistently moist. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Grasses and sedges typically establish first, with the full wildflower component filling in over the following one to two seasons.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
