Built for color and movement as much as ecological value, this mix delivers a season-long parade of bright bloom specifically selected to draw butterflies and hummingbirds into the landscape.
Mix Overview
Expect a vivid palette - bright magenta, sapphire blue, pastel purple, and golden yellow - moving through bloom from early spring into late fall, anchored by big bluestem for light grass structure and partridge pea and lanceleaf tickseed for reliable early coverage. Left unmowed through winter, the standing seed heads and stems also provide overwintering habitat for butterfly and moth larvae, extending the mix's ecological value well past the growing season.
Application
- Butterfly and hummingbird garden plantings
- Sweet-scented, high-color landscape and border plantings
- Low-maintenance naturalized areas where visual impact is a priority alongside habitat value
- Educational plantings showcasing butterfly and hummingbird visitation
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Full Sun to Part Shade
- Site Conditions: Upland sites; adaptable to average, well-drained soils
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 20 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Native wildflower blend with light grass component
Planting Guidance
Broadcast or drill seed into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Leave standing through winter rather than mowing to preserve overwintering habitat for butterfly and moth larvae.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
