The wet-site counterpart to our upland wildlife mix, this blend swaps in wetland grasses and sedges to deliver the same winter cover, nesting habitat, and food sources on consistently wet ground.
Mix Overview
Big bluestem and bushy beardgrass anchor the grass component alongside a strong sedge base - fox sedge, shallow sedge, and hop sedge - all selected for their tolerance of consistently wet soil. Bluejoint grass and Virginia wild-rye add further structural diversity, while swamp milkweed, common boneset, coastal plain and hollow Joe-Pye weed, common sneezeweed, and swamp sunflower supply food and pollinator value across a wet meadow setting.
Application
- Wildlife habitat restoration on wet or seasonally saturated sites
- Wetland buffer and margin plantings supporting wildlife cover and forage
- Conservation plantings where site conditions rule out a dry-site mix
- General-purpose wetland wildlife cover and forage
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Full Sun to Part Shade
- Site Conditions: Wet to seasonally saturated soils
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 15 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Native wetland grass, sedge, and wildflower blend for wet-site wildlife habitat
Planting Guidance
Best seeded into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall on sites that stay consistently moist. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Leave standing through winter to preserve cover and food value.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
