A low-growing native blend for dry, sunny sites, keeping the whole planting under four feet while still delivering genuine pollinator value and low-maintenance color.
Mix Overview
Little bluestem and purple lovegrass provide the structural backbone here, kept in check by a diverse forb layer built for dry, well-drained soil - foxglove and hairy beardtongue, spotted horsemint, black-eyed Susan, aromatic aster, and both early and gray goldenrod among them. The result is a planting with the visual restraint of a low-grow lawn alternative but the ecological function of a full wildflower meadow.
Application
- Low-maintenance meadow plantings where mowing height or visual scale is a concern
- Dry-site pollinator habitat with a more restrained, tidy appearance
- Foreground plantings in front of taller meadow or grass mixes
- Residential and commercial landscape areas transitioning away from turf
