A supplemental grass blend tuned specifically to the nutrient-poor, sandy soils of the Eastern coastal plain, with root systems built to hold ground against strong coastal winds.
Mix Overview
Big bluestem, little bluestem, switchgrass, bitter panic grass, and purple top form a grass-only blend selected for genuine coastal-plain toughness - tolerant of poor, sandy, low-fertility soil and capable of anchoring against wind erosion once established. For a fuller coastal planting, this mix pairs well with plugs of American beachgrass, additional bitter panic grass, seaside goldenrod, and broomsedge.
Application
- Coastal and Eastern seaboard erosion control plantings
- Sandy, nutrient-poor soil restoration
- Supplemental grass component alongside coastal wildflower or dune plantings
- Wind-exposed sites needing deep-rooted soil anchoring
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Full Sun
- Site Conditions: Dry, sandy, nutrient-poor soils; wind-exposed sites
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 10 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Native grass-only blend for coastal plain dry sites
Planting Guidance
Broadcast or drill seed into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Consider interplanting with coastal-adapted plugs for a fuller, more resilient planting.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
