A fast, tough erosion-control blend built to establish quickly on bare, erodible soil and hold ground through heavy rainfall while native restoration takes root.

Mix Overview

This mix combines deep-rooted, fibrous-rooted grasses and forbs - big bluestem and Virginia wild-rye for structure, alongside swamp and common milkweed, fox and shallow sedge, partridge pea, purple coneflower, soft rush, and spotted horsemint - selected specifically for rapid green-up and root-system erosion resistance rather than peak ornamental bloom. The combination of grass, sedge, and forb roots at different depths gives the planting genuine soil-holding capacity across a range of erosion-prone conditions.

Application

  • Erosion control on bare or newly disturbed soil
  • Restoration of erodible slopes and stream banks
  • High-rainfall sites where fast establishment is critical
  • General-purpose native recovery planting for degraded soils

Growing Conditions / Specification Data

  • Light: Full Sun to Part Shade
  • Site Conditions: Adaptable across dry to consistently moist, erosion-prone soils
  • Recommended Seeding Rate: 15 lbs. per acre
  • Mix Type: Fast-establishing native grass, sedge, and wildflower blend for erosion control

Planting Guidance

Broadcast or drill seed into a prepared, weed-free seedbed as soon as possible after disturbance. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Consider jute mesh or coir matting on steeper grades to prevent seed washout before establishment.

Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
