The wet-site counterpart to our Basin Slope Mix, built specifically for the standing water and poor drainage typical of a basin bottom or obligate wetland mitigation site.
Mix Overview
Fox sedge, shallow sedge, and hop sedge form a dense wetland-sedge base, joined by Virginia wild-rye, deertongue grass, soft rush, and woolgrass for additional wetland structure. Swamp milkweed, common boneset, coastal plain Joe-Pye weed, common sneezeweed, and blue lobelia round out the forb component, adding pollinator and wildlife value to a planting built primarily to tolerate sustained standing water. Pair with our Basin Slope Mix for the drier ground along the same basin's slopes and berms.
Application
- Obligate wetland mitigation sites
- Stormwater basin bottoms with sustained standing water
- Detention and retention pond centers and low points
- Wetland restoration on consistently saturated ground
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Full Sun to Part Shade
- Site Conditions: Standing water; obligate wetland conditions
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 10 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Native wetland sedge, rush, and wildflower blend for basin bottoms
Planting Guidance
Best seeded into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall on sites with standing or consistently saturated water. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Pair with a drier-site mix on adjacent slopes for a complete basin planting.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
