A true green-infrastructure planting, selected specifically for species that thrive on the wet-to-dry cycle a functioning rain garden depends on.
Mix Overview
Swamp milkweed, blue wild indigo, fox and hop sedge, partridge pea, lanceleaf tickseed, and purple coneflower combine into a mix built around a genuinely demanding requirement: species that can withstand brief periods of standing water after a storm, then tolerate drought as the basin dries back out between rain events. Deep root systems throughout the mix help water percolate efficiently into the soil, reinforcing the rain garden's core stormwater function alongside its pollinator and wildlife value.
Application
- Residential and commercial rain garden plantings
- Stormwater management for roof, driveway, and parking lot runoff
- Green infrastructure projects requiring genuine wet-dry cycle tolerance
- Pollinator habitat integrated into functional stormwater design
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Full Sun to Part Shade
- Site Conditions: Fluctuating wet-to-dry soils; brief standing water tolerated, drought tolerant between events
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 15 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Native wildflower, sedge, and grass blend for rain gardens
Planting Guidance
Broadcast or drill seed into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Site within a properly designed rain garden basin for the wet-dry cycling this mix is built to handle.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
*Mix design and pricing are subject to change without notice depending on the availability of current and future products. Changes to the mix will not affect its function. Mixes are pre-mixed unless otherwise requested.*
