A shade-tolerant blend for the specific challenge of wet, wooded ground, combining genuine moisture tolerance with the ability to flower and persist under a partial tree canopy.
Mix Overview
Fox and shallow sedge form the wetland-sedge backbone of this mix, joined by Virginia wild-rye and northern sea oats for grass structure suited to shaded conditions. Swamp milkweed, boneset, hollow Joe-Pye weed, soft rush, blue lobelia, seedbox, monkeyflower, New England aster, and blue vervain round out a forb palette selected specifically for both wet-soil tolerance and the ability to bloom under reduced light.
Application
- Wooded wetland and shaded wet-meadow restoration
- Shaded stream and pond margins with tree canopy
- Wet, low-light landscape areas where standard wet-site mixes would struggle
- Woodland edge plantings bordering wet ground
Growing Conditions / Specification Data
- Light: Part Shade to Full Shade
- Site Conditions: Wet to saturated soils under tree canopy or partial shade
- Recommended Seeding Rate: 15 lbs. per acre
- Mix Type: Shade-tolerant native wetland sedge, grass, and wildflower blend
Planting Guidance
Best seeded into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall on sites that stay consistently wet. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Establishment may take longer under heavier shade than in full-sun wet-site plantings.
Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
