The low-growing, shade-tolerant option for wooded sites where a more compact, tidy planting is preferred over a full-height woodland meadow.

Mix Overview

Partridge pea, northern sea oats, lanceleaf tickseed, purple coneflower, Virginia wild-rye, spotted horsemint, hairy beardtongue, hoary and slender mountain mint, orange and black-eyed coneflower, gray goldenrod, and aromatic aster combine into a blend that stays in the one-to-four-foot range while still tolerating shade - equally suited to manicured shaded landscapes or the partial shade found beneath and around solar panel arrays.

Application

  • Low-growing pollinator habitat for shaded landscape areas
  • Shaded sections of solar field ground cover
  • Manicured or formal landscape settings needing shade tolerance and restrained height
  • Woodland-edge plantings where a full-height meadow mix would look out of place

Growing Conditions / Specification Data

  • Light: Part Shade to Full Shade
  • Site Conditions: Adaptable to average soils under tree canopy or partial shade
  • Recommended Seeding Rate: 20 lbs. per acre
  • Mix Type: Low-growing, shade-tolerant native wildflower and grass blend (1-4 ft.)

Planting Guidance

Broadcast or drill seed into a prepared, weed-free seedbed in spring or late fall. Light raking or rolling after seeding improves soil-to-seed contact. Establishment may take longer under heavier shade.

Please allow 3 business days for all seed orders.
