More information on the 2027 crop to come

A wetland-adapted grass with real ornamental presence, bushy beardgrass pairs cotton-candy seed plumes with genuine flood tolerance - a strong fit for the wettest zones of a rain garden or bioswale where few other ornamental grasses perform.

Species Overview

Andropogon glomeratus, or Bushy Beardgrass, is a clump-forming perennial grass native to wetlands and moist areas across North America. It is recognized by its dense, tufted seed heads, which turn silvery-white in fall and add texture to naturalistic landscapes. This species thrives in full sun to partial shade and tolerates wet soils, making it an excellent choice for rain gardens, bioswales, and riparian zones.

Application

  • Rain garden and bioswale plantings, particularly the wettest zone
  • Riparian zone and wetland-edge restoration
  • Meadow plantings requiring a tall, texturally distinct wetland grass
  • Wildlife habitat plantings - cover for small animals, winter food for birds
