One of the few goldenrods genuinely suited to standing water, coastal plain grass-leaved goldenrod combines an unusually long late-season bloom window with confirmed value for several named specialist native bee species - a strong, well-behaved choice for sunny rain gardens and pond edges.

Species Overview

Euthamia caroliniana, also known as slender goldentop or coastal plain grass-leaved goldenrod, is a native herbaceous perennial found in the coastal plain areas, with a fine texture, grass-like leaves with tiny resin dots, and soft yellow flowers with a long bloom season from late summer to early winter. Unlike many goldenrods, this species loves water and grows best in open wetlands.
