A confirmed deer-resistant rush built for punishment, path rush thrives in exactly the compacted, high-traffic conditions that defeat most native plantings - an ideal, low-maintenance filler for rain gardens, walkable groundcover, or erosion control on footpaths and parking areas.
Species Overview
Juncus tenuis, or path rush, is a tough, durable, cool-season rush known for thriving in inhospitable locations along pathways and in highly compacted soils - hence the common name. It grows 6 to 24 inches tall and equally as wide, forming dense clumps of upright cylindrical stems, and is semi-evergreen with some salt tolerance.
